to quote a comment on twittier
> the first social network designed exclusively for cis women with a statistically average bone structure

@BlueSoul eh

JAD
makes you wonder what problem they're trying to solve

It's silly and inane

It's science! Whenever you read that, it's usually preceded by something incredibly stupid.

but it's far from the most silly or most inane startup idea
I do wonder though what about someone with an irregular face or who has recovered from a compound fracture?

@Magisch from another comment...
> I’m sure they got a nice representative cross-racial sample so there won’t be any misclassifications, definitely for sure

nevermind bias, human morphology is far from a binary and super varied person-to person

JAD
hmm, I'm going to classify this as "probably a well-meant idea, poor execution"

"we want to ensure only females use the platform, what can we do?"
a) pay a lot of $$ to monitor the app and moderate misuse

if you're gonna go there, gender as opposed to sex is largely cultural and expression based, so no amount of analyzing a photo can make you determine it with sufficient accuracy
and making a social network based on biological sex seems even more dumb then the above

b) try and find some rational way to be reasonably secure that the users are indeed female (but only for some values of "female" apparently, since they had to almost joke on trans-girls)

@Magisch from a developers point of view, that's easily manageable with a camera function. I don't expect users to be so happy about that idea though

c) facial recognition because current fashion trends say so. Try to find a way to use blockchains too.

@JAD "easily"? I don't think so

JAD
again, not gonna be popular

now we're in yuck territory
no wait, the idea itself is yuck territory

let's clean it up then
