@SonicWizard The response to that request was written by a CM... I don't know that means it's necessarily easy to obtain that information. I don't know that it's not... but I'm not sure why one would be different from the other. For mods, we see two pieces of info - are they banned and have they run into the ban.

@SonicWizard I don't have strong feelings either way. I've found that such alerts are relatively unuseful. People who want to post will ignore them or simply not read them, as they refused to read any of the other content that they'd been given before.

Users are shown a warning before they receive a question ban. If it didn't help then, it won't help here either. Developer time is better invested into something that improves the quality of the content that lasts, not on dealing with rejects.

Precisely this. Just about anyone hitting a ban has already been swaddled in yards of silky-soft warnings and guidance, which they've probably never read. anyone likely to read and comprehend a targeted warning will read and comprehend that. Some larger portion will fail to find the checkbox. The rest will ask anyway. BUT - without the expensive cross-site query.
