Q: Include some chat capabilities in iOS app

Currently, the app notifies users when they're mentioned in chat. However, when we tap on the notification, we got redirected out of the app to Safari. Is there a chance we can get some chat capabilities in the app, so that we don't have to login again in Safari to quickly reply to the messages...

Q: Inconsistency with icons for chat replies in the iOS app

I'm already know about lack of icon for chat replies in the iOS app. Moreover I have a dup post about it. But now I noticed that chat replays from meta chat have icons: As you can see replies from "Stack Overflow на русском" don't contain an icon, but replies from "Meta StackExchange...

Seem there is a new bug with notification engine. Just got notification about @ShadowWizard's edit was 15 min ago despite my visit on the edited page immediatly after edit.

@alexolut visiting the edited page isn't relevant, there is always a notification when someone edits our posts, but only in the full site, not in the mobile apps.

(unless it's a trivial edit, which doesn't cause a notification.)

@ShadowWizard why do a notification about what I already know? This is like notification about already read and answered chat messages (which you assumed is already fixed).

@alexolut most people aren't so active on the site like us: they post, and go away for a while, coming back after a while. So for them, notification is essential so they know their post has been edited, otherwise they wouldn't really notice.

That said, feature request asking to "delay" the edit notification for a bit, aborting it if the user visited the edited post already, sounds legit. :)

Hmm... also, do note that to mark chat message as "read" you have to do an explicit action: either click the red number, or post a new message. Just loading the page isn't enough. So in the feature request better reference this, and suggest a similar way to clear the pending notification. @alex

(e.g. an icon next to the "edited" notice)

@Pandya hmm.... this would fit in a social community, but Stack Exchange isn't a social community. You can try to start such a feature request, but expect LOTS of downvotes. It doesn't mean it won't be done at some point, just that it won't be a popular request.
