@NormalHuman Okie dokie, I think I need to be careful not to break anything. O.O

user259867
Everybody elected in June 2012 is still a mod.

good vintage

goddamnit

Lost your blue? :(

user259867
June 2012 was also a rare case of an election announcement without anyone stepping down.

@hichris123 Yeah...

All the shiny buttons have disappeared.

You're still in TL somehow :P

@Doorknob Ah -- not from my end -- I was kicked out a couple minutes ago.

Well, my WebSocket connection ain't getting any events from the room any more, so I'm going to blame caching of the user list. :P

If any mods would like to perform an experiment, they can go here, approve my access, and see if it works. For science.

Haha, I'll probably get slapped for doing that :P

user259867
Ed Cottrell and josilber are the two mods with lowest reputation, just over 20K.

user259867
9:20 PM
Helped by the rep-truncation some tiny bit, I imagine.

Out of all people… josilber… must be the PhD effect.

I'm partial to mod candidates with some academic background... Bill was/is a part-time college instructor, and now josilber has a chance of becoming a PhD-bearing mod.

Think about it, computer science is weird because it needs to be very precise in certain ways, unlike so many other disciplines in which 1%-2% errors are allowed because nothing is really precise. I guess precision is what expected in man made disciplines such as computer science or to an extend, maths.

@NormalHuman My experience with PhD people is that a good fraction of them are egotistical assholes.

user259867
That is true of many cats, too.

9:28 PM
:p

@bjb568 We have met different PhD's in our lives then.

@S.L.Barth I second this.

user259867
Still looking for: retirement dates of Marc Gravell and Adam Lear; callup date of jjnguy.

I'm talking about Joe PhD who lives across the street and has the brightest ideas about all the things…
Context, not just the people, matters, I guess.

50% of the people I talk to in The Table are PhD's and I'm more of a egotist than them.

The non-assholes may have been harder to identify as PhDs. :P I work with several who are awesome, but I didn't even realize they PhDs them for a long time.

Yeah, there is a selection bias there. You can only really smell the stink of the rotten apples…

@bjb568 Of course, every group large enough has it's share of unpleasant people, too.
....and then some people got their "Ph.D." from diploma mills, from institutions that are not accredited.

And then you have the religion PhD's that get cited in flat-earth or anti-NASA YouTube videos that parody themselves :p

user259867
Will / Won't had a hilarious resignation post, and I can't find it now. :(

@NormalHuman Hmm, lemme find it.

user259867
9:35 PM
@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. Got it, a different Meta. meta.stackexchange.com/a/187557

@NormalHuman Yeah, that's it.

user259867
Also can't find when animuson was called up.

@chmod666telkitty You've got a point there. Law might be another case. As might grammar.

Q: Fire all the "community moderators" they all suck

Ronald McDonaldthese site all suck not due to one reason. Overzealous moderators. Just let people ask questions and get answers. Get a LIFE. stop being dipshits and getting excited about closing other peoples questions. Some people just can't handle even the tiniest bit of power.

@NormalHuman IIRC, you should go to blog. Animuson and JNat had an honorable mention.

user259867
9:39 PM
That's also useful but different, it's when he got fired promoted from mod-ship.

Animuson got hired!

@S.L. I successfully caught my screenshot.

Good.... that entertainment didn't last long....

OwwK, @Normal I might need some time to understand that script, but (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ for the help anyway!

@chmod666telkitty Although with respect to maths, we don't have a choice. Ex contradictio sequitur quod libet - a single mistake in maths will destroy the entire system.

This is tikz, a LaTeX package I've no idea about.

@NormalHuman It looks like that thinks that Michael Myers is no longer a mod.

user259867
Hm, that's wrong. Thanks.

user259867
Gah, wrong again

Why no @Undo?

I have 18 on the chart... and there are 18 on the site. Phew.

10:44 PM
Hi all.

user276632
I have a question.

user259867
What is it?

user276632
I can't seem to find the "create room" button anywhere on the SE except here in meta chat. Although I have more than 100 points on many sites. I thought I'd ask you guys.

user276632

user276632
See? Nothing.

10:54 PM
@Bart I informed the OSCE, @NormalHuman will do the dangling chad analysis, we demand justice

@rene nobody know who that guy is...

@Arrowfar so, you have this issue: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/90796/…

[ SmokeDetector ] Few unique characters in body, repeating characters in title: its done aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa by heph on stackoverflow.com

I remember that meta.chat is different from chat.se and chat.so

Yeah, but that doesn't make sense
@Arrowfar Are you suspended somewhere?

user276632
10:59 PM
@rene No nowhere. That's why I asked. It is kinda strange.

@NormalHuman that's pretty cool

user276632
Hi @Shog9.

'evening

@Arrowfar can you hit this page: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/new

user276632
@rene It says "You are currently banned from creating new rooms." Why?

11:00 PM
> Aug 17 at 17:56: User is banned from creating rooms and inviting users indefinitely by StackExchange.
This ban was enabled automatically for being kicked out of a room three times within 24 hours. Please review whether this is appropriate.
This restriction does not expire automatically.

There you are....
Glad I could help...

user276632
Okay snailboat kicked me out three times once. Yeah.

user276632
So what should I do?

user202362
@S.L.Barth IMHO, maths does not explain this world, physics does (& chemistry, biology etc). Physics uses maths but is not maths itself. In physics, you have boundry conditions. Sometimes different formulas apply in different situations. You have observation error & tolerance. So in a way, maths is useless in itself, but without it, most important disciplines will fail to function.

@Arrowfar Not create any rooms I guess

user276632
11:02 PM
@Shog9 So can you help me out.

user276632
@rene But that's a privilege. It is kinda bad you know.

@Arrowfar you should probably ask snailboat...

user276632
@Shog9 So can she reverse it?

yes

user276632
Oh I see. Thanks I'll ask her.

11:03 PM
...

@Arrowfar sure, but you don't get banned for nothing and with that the privilege is gone. Asking her nicely might be a start to get this reversed.

user202362
Am I the only one thinks the answer to 'what to do if I was kicked out 3 times from a chat room in the past 24 hours' is 'do not go back there?'

user276632
Well I didn't say anything inappropriate. She was just mad you know. You can check the deleted messages too. It is the Japanese room.

@SmokeDetector that should probably rejected outright...

user276632
11:13 PM
She reversed it. Yay!

user276632
Thanks for the help!

user276632
Bye!

user259867
Okay, now may be time to unpin the primary vote monitors...

user259867
This room needs some ROs that are around more often, e.g., some flowers...

user259867
The Twitter account twitter.com/StackOverflow doesn't mention mod election results. Well it does not do much of anything recently.

11:17 PM
@InfiniteRecursion can you clean-up the starboard a bit? or maybe @JasonC
I'm out ...

@chmod666telkitty somehow I'm surprised to see such a sensible statement from you.

11:40 PM
I coulda sworn I made Slim a room owner at one point

Please do room-ownery things now.
...I guess I could just call him @NormalHuman, seeing as he can't really change that name anymore.
