Oops. that was pointing to an answer...
Fixed now.

Question: With the 10k flag queue gone. How are NAA flags handled?
"Low Quality Posts" review queue?

@Mysticial Moderator flag queue & low quality posts queue.

ah
thx

I don't understand why stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/4752386 was rejected, as far as I can see the link doesn't render on the tag page?

@Stijn The reviewers probably didn't realize that.

12:50 AM
@Louis Not necessarily. (Dis)advantages and performance differences can be supported by facts.
Ugh, can an SO Diamond step in here please? stackoverflow.com/questions/23523180/…

@Stijn you're fighting a battle that doesn't need to be fought. He's forming a naturally-sounding title, not crap like "[petapoco] how to temporary table"

@Stijn I don't see a problem with "...with PetaPoco?".

@Anna So I should change all my questions to "How can I do X in C#?" then? I believe that the consensus was that appending "in ..." is still considered to be adding a tag in the title?

@AnnaLear Ah gosh darn it, why not lock on the capitalised version?

Unlocked now, actually. No need to prevent voting on the question since we're discussing it here now anyway.

1:01 AM
@Stijn PetaPoco (which I haven't even heard of until now) seems kinda specialised, so mentioning it in the title seems warranted. Not so for C#, which is, like, ubiquitous.

What @michaelb958 just said. Plus, in this case it's such a minor thing that it's definitely not worth getting into an edit war for.

@michaelb958 The question is tagged with so I see no reason to have it in the title.

@Stijn "How can I create a temporary table?" -> meh. "How can I create a temporary table in PetaPoco?" -> oh, an actual problem.

Eh, for folks browsing , it's probably easier to notice that (as an organic part of the title, which again is key) than the tag.

@Stijn Without specific details about what the OP wants to do, people are just going to provide opinions.

1:05 AM
Oh geez, the guy's backquoting the body now.

I guess I pay more attention then when browsing the question list then, I always read the tags. Oh well no point in discussing this any further then I suppose.

Rules are not immutable. If not following a rule makes more sense on all counts, then for Skeet's sake don't follow the rule.

@michaelb958 I prefer consistency, I either try to always follow a rule or I don't follow it at all. It avoids discussions like "why was X fine on this question but not on my question?"
I'm off, good night :)

@Stijn Well, that would be a point against it making sense.
See you later!
Would you look at the comments on this answer on MSO. It's not every day you see legal discussion interwoven with smilies.

Random Wikipedia entry of the day
The Glasgow Ice Cream Wars were conflicts in the East End of Glasgow in Scotland in the 1980s between rival ice cream van operators, over lucrative drug distribution territory. The conflicts involved daily violence and intimidation, and led to the deaths by arson of several members of the family of one ice cream van driver and a consequent court case that lasted for 20 years. The conflicts generated widespread public outrage, and earned the Strathclyde Police the nickname the "serious chimes squad" (a pun on Serious Crime Squad) for its perceived failure to address them. Conflicts Drugs...
@michaelb958 loooooooool

3:01 AM
@Pëkka I don't think that "lol" was the intended reaction. The guy answered the question (with a link-only answer, what's more), then unilaterally closed it.

3:15 AM
@michaelb958 we're working on plans to build that into Stack Exchange. Just FYI.

3:54 AM
Also, the badge thresholds on Unity Answers seem kinda low. For instance, Famous Question (gold) requires a question to get 500 views. There are eight people with Famous Question for every person with Supporter.
...which, now that I think a bit harder, is a pretty good indicator of there being some problem.

haha, my downvotes for 5 posts of the same user got reversed even though all the posts were removed after my flagging. Will I be suspended? :P

7:12 AM
@Shog9 I flagged an answer a few days ago because it had an off-topic comment chain. It looks like the flag got handled (all comments are removed) but my flag is still active. I don't know how easy it is to find a specific flag? Post in question is stackoverflow.com/questions/619895/…

@Stijn cleared

@Shog9 thanks :)

@michaelb958 The Unity Answers site is just dreadful
Well, the forum isn't much better, but hey, it's a forum

Yay!

Just discovered that calculated columns in SharePoint can be zalgoed to render html snippets.

@SPArchaeologist oh, of course. I should have known that! ;)

This opens a world of misuses.

I'm so glad these transcripts are preserved for posterity. The wealth of information contained within them, and the insights in current day society it will provide to future generations is invaluable.

@Bart so here is another invaluable and priceless message to tell your grandchildren about!

9:04 AM
"Grandpa! Tell us another one of your exciting stories about how this Wizard guy said something"

@Bart any idea how to translate "de gulden middenweg" to English?

Yep, thanks :)

Or "the guilder middleroad"
Nice. Google translate is getting good @DroidDev

9:10 AM
@DroidDev Heh, I did use Google Translate, but typed "gulden middenweg" which translates to "golden mean" while apparently "de gulden middenweg" translates to "the happy medium" :)

@Bart this is my savior many time, when I have to chat with some chinese colleagues of mine.
@Stijn apparently they are same programmers who do updates in android.

@DroidDev Why's that?

@DroidDev be careful, risk for translation error ending in something highly embarrassing is quite high ;(

@Stijn updates are always buggy in android
@ShadowWizard they know about my this little activity, so they don't mind and there is always something, that doesn't make sense, if you translate chinese with google
@Stijn this might be a good example

Ha, Wooble hasn't left after all it seems.

@Bart Wooble?

yeah

10:13 AM
the concept of a browser/client and server is difficult : stackoverflow.com/questions/23538390/…

@rene facepalm

:)

It's not that obvious that you can't communicate with the client in real time if you don't know the concept behind HTTP..

OP now wants to know how to fix the code to make it possible....

It's not an easy task tbh

10:20 AM
No, it isn't...not if you also want to support multiple platforms...
If I mention activeX this might turn into a helpvampire....

If you mention ActiveX I will hunt you down and slap you with a trout.

Javascript and Flash won't do it, I'm pretty sure

Please do @Bart if I evar leave that comment...

@Bart: is Geneva really that damn expensive? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…

Pretty much, yes

11:12 AM
Stuff like this is why you shouldn't tell beginners to use var :stackoverflow.com/questions/23539297/unity-fps-game-error
So annoying when I see tutorials aimed at beginners do that. "Just use var and it will automagically work"

The sad thing it's a long time user, maybe his account was hacked?

users are answering to comments as answers. Now I have seen it all

@DroidDev nah, nothing new and quite common actually.

mine was first time, well it is worth a laugh. Flagged it.
it seems to be another bug in Area 51
Steps to reproduce:-
1. add area 51 as your community in top menu
2. open it in new tab from there
3. click where it shows your avatar and reputation etc
it takes to reputation page
while on other sites it show info
is it same with others or just with me??

You don't need to add it to your community list. It does that regardless.

11:22 AM
is this default behaviour?

Area 51 is... different.

oh!! Hence the name

It's built with older "engine" of Stack Exchange so lots of differences from all other sites.

but, still I don't think it should take to reputation bar

I believe they will replace it with something else soon(ish) so it's doesn't really matter :)
Area 52 rulz!

11:25 AM
@ShadowWizard I really think "Greeting, Earthling!" text should be replace by this

Ohh hell.. I just triggered it and my rep is decreased from 345 to 272. WTF?? — hims056 13 mins ago

hmmm, I should have flagged it for rude or offensive, instead, the only upvote it has is mine.

@DroidDev what, the comment? No, it's totally legit in MSE.

Guess what..!! I also tried retriggering it.
It reduced mine from 299 to 286

No change for me, still 151 ;)
Probably all of those are because of deleted proposals

11:35 AM
Yup, Area 51 is like old decepticon robot in Transformer II, it has all the real power, but it is just too old as stated here

I think that for the team it's more of a headache at this point, as they have to keep maintaining it and have duplicate codes for it. Oh well! :)

I am a fairly novice programmer, with not much technical knowledge, but I wonder why they are running the origin of most of these websites on older engine

@DroidDev what do you mean? what origin?

Is it because, "Its functionality different than other sites?"

@ShadowWizard That most sites come from Area51, hence, it's the sites' origin.

11:50 AM
Oh boy...
Maybe it becomes more productive for the both of us if you share what you have tried far more than that? — rene 37 secs ago

@rene oh no, not again!
:)

sorry :-)

@DroidDev not really, just because it's an old site that did not evolve along with the rest of Stack Exchange

@ShadowWizard so, maintainers of Area51 are to be blamed for that.

@DroidDev I think they simply didn't plan ahead when building Area 51, nothing too bad though :)

11:58 AM
OPs like this make me wonder why I try anymore...

OP is pretty (sarcastic tone)confident and rude also

@AShelly What a horrible question. It basically says "I know I have a syntax error but I can't be bothered to locate it, someone do it for me."

I did find a nice arrow next to his question pointing downwards. I clicked it and it became orange....

Hey @DroidDev, it's indented :)
You can't argue with that.
Ooh @rene. It's so shiny and patriotic

lol.

12:04 PM
@AShelly while I understand your frustration please don't change titles like that.
That is going down to his level.

Ha, parents around the world are adopting the question ban mechanism

"BUT MOOOOOM, there's nothing I did wrong. You have no reason!! .... Oh that, yeah, there's that .... and that as well ...."

This is genius, @Pëkka! But some things need refactoring, e.g. cleaning toilets should be worth more. where can we submit a feature request?

12:11 PM
@Pëkka Have they tried beating their kids? It works fine in many countries and kids also respect their parents when they get older, and understand why they were beaten up earlier.

@DroidDev this, or they simply beat their own kids as well.

@DroidDev lol
@ShadowWizard bear in mind that it's likely to be a very clean toilet, so it would probably be light work.

You must watch Russell Peters. He explained benefits of beating kids very well in his stage performance once.

@Pëkka why clean? what if there are small brothers or sisters? ;)

idea is great, you just can't argue with that.

12:23 PM

Does anyone recall this question the OP links to coming up in a discussion recently: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/231231/…
It seems I edited it, and it's all pretty much deja-vu
I remember some complaint about it not answering the question, copying the same code?

Q: Both answer and question are same but he accepts it is right answer

ArutSee this question in stackoverflow Phonegap navigation bar not showing up both question and answer are same thers is no difference in that anyway he accept the answer.Is that good one.

Remembered that too, meta search "url:*questionid*", @Bart

Ooh, thanks. Just found it @Mat. Thanks
I browsed through my comments. that search is easier. :D

12:40 PM
@shadow wizzard, i realized that as soon as I did it. It does bother me that the title has nothing to do with the problem, but I definitely could have worded it better.

Q: Is this a good title? "Kitten can't speak"

user3551452When I ask a question if my question title I put is "Kitten can't speak" is it a good question? Will I get comments saying it is not a question?.

I...*sigh*
It's too early in the morning for this.

I'm too late to see it :( removed already

This is why I drink [coffee] in the morning

Ooh, coffee. BRB

status-black-coffee-yummy
@AShelly not sure, it's like changing code in a question to "fix" it. In those cases of off topic questions to begin with that can't be salvaged, better let it be and just close/delete it when possible.

Today's Listening: Electronic
I just found this yesterday, and it is amazing.

1:18 PM
Argh Bandcamp, what are you doing?!?
Every time I play something it stop halfway through

@Bart NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Myeah, annoying

Did you fix it?

@Bart do you run it in Chrome?

Yep @rene

1:31 PM
Hmmm...me too, doesn't stop for me...

Around the 3 minute mark it stops every now and then

OK, this one doesn't for me...maybe it doesn't allow to many concurrent connections?
I'm now listening to Gravity...

@LaszloPapp - quick question: did the discussion in the private board degenerate after I left for vacation about two weeks ago?

1:48 PM
@Bart Do you think Neel understands my comment? I have the feeling that he dismisses my suggestion as a possibility for the downvotes.

\o

All a bit of a moot point now he deleted it @rene. But I don't really think he got (or wanted to understand) any of it.

Nope @Stijn

@Bart Oh, nevermind. Good to hear that nobody understands what I try to explain.

1:50 PM
I have no idea what you're saying @rene, but let me just nod to make you feel good

2:00 PM
@TGMCians done

Thanks :)

@SPArchaeologist: yeah, I think so.

@ShadowWizard I see there is no option now as like it was earlier to close the question as (off-topic) programming question on meta

@GnomeSlice Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

@GnomeSlice 16:03:48.043: HTML5Player-1: got native error event; error.code=2

whaaat

@LaszloPapp It's just that I didn't saw Alula around since then, so i was wondering if there was any flaming around that I didn't knew about.

@TGMCians yeah, because of the split. But we do have "This question does not appear to be about the software that powers the Stack Exchange network within the scope defined in the help center" which is totally correct. :-)

Yeah, I did just second before you wrote your message :)

2:07 PM
@GnomeSlice If I pause it and then press play again it works once more....

@TGMCians The downvotes seem a bit harsh

yup

@Stijn all part of a bigger picture I'm afraid

@Stijn not harsh at all. It's a frustrated user who post crap on Meta, see all his other posts.
Too bad he can keep doing it forever, no post ban on per site metas.

2:15 PM
I've seen the other posts, this questions looks legitimate to me though.

Well, there are suspensions @ShadowWizard

@Bart only on the main site, and in there he appears to be somewhat helpful
What he's doing isn't harmful or justify suspension IMO, just annoying

I would assume that with enough crap you get suspended no matter what @ShadowWizard. Though admittedly that kicks in far later than a ban would have.

Getting banned is pretty hard

@Bart depends on amount and quality of the crap I guess ;)

2:16 PM
I got banned from chat.se for 6 months a while ago.

@GnomeSlice WOW
why?!

I forget.
Cursing at people I think.
I don't know, it was kind of bullshit.

So now you're more careful, I assume? :)

Getting the same errors as you mentioned @rene

@GnomeSlice Come on SharePoint. It is the only board when cursing is actually considered a precise step in the solutions we post everyday ^_^

2:23 PM
@Bart 16:16:53.067: HTML5Player-1: got native error event; error.code=2 is my latest

@SPArchaeologist Cursing at people.

@GnomeSlice do the SharePoint developers @Microsoft count? ^_^

I cried when I got banned

@Bart Maybe it is the adsl modem that drops the connection?

@rene I blame caching. It's always caching.
@GnomeSlice no wonder, it's like taking away your favorite toy. Or gadget. you know what I mean. :)

2:27 PM
Yeah.
Also pretty much people on SE are the only people I talk to regularly.

@rene Given the broadcast level internet we have here I'd say that's unlikely

@SPArchaeologist: hmm, not much.

Hmm, it must be something we share... @Bart
Because of Dutch? (assuming @Gnomeslice is not Dutch)

Canadian.

There you go. If Dutch then drop network connection on Bandcamp. Problem solved.

2:32 PM
That bandcamp page might be fuct

@rene and @Bart you can try tracert to see where it's broken

When I tried to link it on facebook it wasn't able to parse it and show the onebox thing.

Midway through a song @ShadowWizard?

Other bandcamp pages worked but not that one. It might be fuct somehow.
:/

@Bart no, just to see where the ping is slower

2:34 PM
It plays fine for me though.
There's the first track, which I listened to like 6 times in a row.

I'll see if I have the same issue at home later.

It doesn't go far for me

2:39 PM
6 hops and it's there. No significant delays

Your trace stays in Switzerland?

No, UK

Hmm, same for me. So maybe the UK cdn drops connections and that is why we both see that... or caching...

caching it is

solved!

2:49 PM
CACHING'DDD
When you fall down a bottomless cache you die of starvation.
...resource starvation.

All this talk of starvation is making me hungry

why are the cv numbers increasing so fast?

Where's @TCPMAN when I need someone to get my homestarrunner.com references?

@LaszloPapp the queue is not longer fuzzied

@rene: what do you mean?

3:01 PM
So now we really need more people close voting
4
A: Enough fuzzying: let's let everything into the close queue and age out questions that don't reach a threshold

m0saImplemented and going live in build rev 2014.5.7.2223 on meta and 2014.5.7.1592 on sites. Expect the number of items in the close queue to drop a bit.

@rene: you should ask for unlimited close votes, you deserve it :)

@rene Yeah I see
Laszlo : hehe

Nah, just invite every 3K-er to handle the queue

well, the duplicate power for experts should help.

3:05 PM
"5 experienced users reviewing a really crappy post with their time, 40 times a day, is ridiculous." -> agree.
experienced users should have more power to say it is crap, close it now IMHO
btw, what is wrong about 3 close votes for closing a question?

done

3:24 PM
> I'm right here > Heh > DOGE
But I don't actually get that one. Someone who understands your early-mid '00s pop culture reference is in another castle.

I won't be able to edit that @Braiam. Sorry.

@Braiam I think @Seth is talking about "They need to go."

then using burninate?

That might be a better term, although I don't know if Ask Ubuntu is familiar with it.

yeah, they are

3:44 PM
@Braiam pastebin.com/Y7np7NHk Do with it as you please, but that's how I would have changed it.

I like @Bart's version, except it repeats itself at the end. Just conclude with "I don't think we need tags that encapsulate all those product.. Should they go?"

@AShelly I certainly don't repeat myself and don't say the exact same thing multiple times, nor over and over again in different ways.

Good to know,@Bart and I appreciate you letting me know, @Bart

Because the previous one was fuct apparently.
=[
@Bart @rene

Ooh, I'll listen to that when I get home

3:51 PM
I'm listening now (the pings don't go well with it :-) )

What ping @rene?

Tnx @Bart

:)

thanks @Bart

4:03 PM
@GnomeSlice @GnomeSlice returns countdown was the best Bridge countdown.
And thanks, @Anna :)
There's probably a handful more now that stuff's been deployed but I'll bother with getting a list sometime later.

Hey guys, Is it normal that I'm seeing the close votes queue growing?
I swear in the morning it was 7K
Now it's like 7.6K

No problem :)

I saw that but I think that makes the queue smaller, right?

4:15 PM
@FaridNouriNeshat we need more people that close vote
It depends
It now takes every question that gets a fresh close vote so you see that increase
Due to the threshold it won't go bakc up to 120K like it did in december

Before everyday I was seeing the close votes getting smaller now today it's like growing hourly!

But we still need to organize more people that are willing to spend some time handling the close queue

It actually ruins my mood after I do 10 of them.

@FaridNouriNeshat You're invited to join chat.stackoverflow.com/rooms/info/41570/…
Yeah, we know, but if you try have some fun while doing your chores it is doable
I managed to almost reach the top 10 of the overall close vote reviewer league

4:25 PM
@Louis on hold

gone!

@TGMCians yep, kamaal to hai!

hmm

4:37 PM
Should we migrate the SO election things like this to mSO?

4:58 PM
@TCPMAN Ah, gotcha. I was making a Teen Girl Squad reference. One of them gets thrown down a bottomless pit, and says "when you fall down a bottomless pit, you die of starvation."
