@Stijn There are Q&A devs, but they're currently being managed by PMs in charge of other projects. It's not a complete roadblock, but it's enough of a complication to slow things down. The good news is that we have a Q&A PM starting this week! Today, the police in Israel is delivering "positive traffic reports" to drivers who drive well and politely. Wonder if it's happening in other places as well?

@ShadowWizard would probably upset me more then anything. Like, "you stopped me for this?!"

> The Israel Police are going to be participating in the "Day of Good Deeds" by giving out traffic tickets. No, not the normal tickets that make people mutter and sometimes curse the police for having to pay hundreds or thousands of shekels in fines. These tickets will be for being magnanimous on the roads and being considerate to other drivers. The ticket will look like a regular ticket but will say it is a positive ticket given with love from the police for the Day of Good Deeds.
@Magisch hehe, well, from what I hear people are really excited about it here. :)

Good Deeds Day is an international day of volunteering. Speaking about the day, initiator Shari Arison said: I believe that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the...

S4 E21 "Testing Testing 1, 2, 3" actually gives a reasonable explanation for why Rainbow Dash didn't enjoy reading until Twilight really pushed him. Rainbow learns the most while flying, and she looks all around to notice everything. That's incompatible with reading books, which you can best do while in bed or on a bus or train, and certainly not while you're looking all around to absorb every detail you see around you.

Aw
I wonder if I missed a job opportunity
My life is a relentless series of missed opportunities

Job offer was up for several months Jason..

3:53 PM
No not me
I know, but I've been struggling with some serious depression since like November. I was just thinking about it this morning. I need to snap out of it, hard.
I've done literally nothing.

Anyone used synergy with a multi monitor setup?
@JasonC Weather getting to you?

Somewhat, the short days do magnify it. I'm actually not sure what the problem is. I go through regular cycles, been that way for about 16 years. It's an endless source of frustration.

I have similar problems. Out here in the Puget Sound area winter is mostly just cold with constant cloud cover, which can lead to some serious depression. I don't know about you, but it helps me to get out and do stuff IRL with people.
Hiking, sailing, biking. Something like that.

But actually seeing that somebody got that job and thinking that it's totally the job I wanted, and knowing I've literally been talking about "maybe applying" for at least 4 months, is a bit of a wakeup call.
Yeah absolutely.

@JasonC The PM offer comes around every 6 months or so. You'll get another chance.
And, for whatever reason, SE has a problem retaining PMs so you might even get QA..

3:58 PM
Depression's a bummer because I'll get stuck in a feedback loop of a mounting todo list => stress => burnout => not having time for anything else => depression => not feeling like doing anything else => repeat.
Yeah we'll see. I'm sure there will be more openings in the future. I'm not worried about it. I'm just super annoyed lately at my lack of motivation. I think I'll just force myself to go do something social today. I'm on the trailing edge of the latest depression cycle. Based on past experience, I should pop out of it very soon and be a normal person again.
Plus the weather's improving. Working on my computer outside on my roof = excellent mood.
Long summer days, can't get enough. Some day I'd like to be able to afford a summer home on the other side of the planet.

Computer programmers, IT specialists, and hackers are often depicted in popular works of fiction, from books, movies, to TV shows. On the 2017 Developer Survey, we asked respondents about depictions of what it’s really like to be a programmer. This was one of my favorite questions on the survey this year, and analyzing these results has been quite the glimpse into the opinions of our community.

There were 10,983 respondents who answered this question on the survey about fictional characters, and respondents answered one of four possible versions of this question: …

oh. Nice!

Well, now that all those other PITA's are solved I've gotta set it up again. But that's another minimum 6-8 weeks to get it working out for me :-/
Yeah, I admit I'm an addict in various ways. But I aim to be self supplied!
And learn in depth about the problem domain of course!

@Shadow Missed the trigger.

@ShadowWizard docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/… first sheet has a chart, second sheet has days sorted by message count. i left out smokey.
busiest days:
1/19/2011	2666
1/4/2011	2573
4/8/2015	2550
1/25/2011	2496
4/7/2015	2397
1/5/2011	2286
1/28/2014	2244
1/20/2011	2221
12/24/2014	2100
2/2/2011	2074
It'd be fun if I had a way to send a message back in time and tell everybody there that that was the busiest day.
Like if you could visit a transcript day and just start chatting.
mind blown

@JasonC Mods can edit the transcript to the same effect.

Ha
@ShadowWizard oops i accidentally left out one-box messages. maybe later. i closed eclipse.
relative order should be pretty much the same though.
Btw, chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/89/2013/5/30, May 30 2013, the Taverns only completely silent day in its entire history.
