Q: SE blog onebox image overflows

bjb568 The image is too tall, and there's a strange white border around it… (taken from the blog image) The image on the blog should have margins, rather than white pixels, and the onebox image should have a max-height

[ SmokeDetector ] Bad keyword in body: Want more fall off, screw your carbohydrate by user303675 on meta.stackexchange.com

It's not a browser issue, it's CSS. You need to hover over it to get the border…
@Andy Still, without the border, because of a subtle difference in background color, I can see the bug in your screenshot

@bjb568 Well, you didn't say that, did you?

Well, obviously overflow is a layout problem controlled by CSS and I'm reporting it on MSE, not webkit's bug reporter…

2:15 PM
@bjb568 "subtle difference in background color" - Remember, and I'm going to age myself a bit, not all of us are as young as you with eyes as young as yours. "subtle" to you, is not noticeable without really focusing to see the difference between white and almost white to me

@Andy get a better screen

I'm sorry. You are free to contact my manager and explain why I need to be able to see the difference between "white" and "almost white". At the same time, explain how it's important to my job (hint: It's not) and why the company should care.

I didn't realize the culture of poor equipment…

What's poor about a monitor that functions for my job?

it sucks

2:21 PM
No. It works perfectly for my position.
It doesn't do what you think it should do, but it doesn't need to. I don't do design work. I don't have any need at all to see minor color differences.

If I find the answer to my question in the comments on an answer, should I just edit that information into the answer itself? Example: stackoverflow.com/a/215731/1015495

Sure

Depends. I'm generally wary of editing highly upvoted answers.

Yeah, that's what gave me pause

But comments aren't supposed to have important information. Edit it into the answer and custom-flag the comments.

4:02 PM
That's too.
Comments can disappear at any time
And I think (and 402 other people) the comment on that answer is extremely valuable
(This is assuming that I'm on a site where I have enough rep to edit without review)

Ah, it's the top comment. I suppose if you put "Edit:" above it it should be OK. You may want to point out, in the edit comment, that you're editing in a comment with 403 upvotes - to prevent it from being rolled back by over-zealous people.

@bjb568 For definitions of "basically" that does not match the english one.
Such a huge letdown that SE chat to this date still doesn't provide a proper API or IRC bridge.
It's almost like they're fine with keeping it such a useless feature when it's an important means of communication.
