It's something way more exotic than that.

It's trihydrogen cation, the simplest triatomic molecule in the universe.

And its bonding is super-weird, that's why you don't recognize it

I actually have a copy of "Chemistry: the Central Science" over here. I looked in the index, it doesn't mention trihydrogen (neither the molecule nor the ion) there, but there is an entry for "triple bond".

Triple bond is actually 2c-6e. It's the strongest known bond.

For example, the bond in CO is the strongest covalent bond known.

In some chemistry contests it's mentioned.

Bonding in trihydrogen and its cation is more complex, is studied at post-doc research levels and is concerning interstellar chemistry. I wouldn't expect to see it in any book aimed at students.
