@jcole @mootinator I'm blogging for science!

@Moshe Of course...

@mootinator - Missed the removed comment.
:-(

1:41 AM
Oh, and thanks.

@Moshe It was a pointless "ha" message.

Ha
There's the second one in the series up there now too.

Ha, the re ha-ening.
No stackoverflow/stackexchange team on kiva.org? This must be rectified immediately.
Or eventually anyway.

Q: How to create spin the bottle game in android

user1180170I am new in android application development. I want to create Spin Bottle game in android. Please help me to do this application,its urgent. Thanks.........

Have we beaten the record for fastest question closure yet?

"I couldn't find a real bottle and these girls are coming over in like an hour, you gotta help me write this spin the bottle program before they get here guys!"

11:25 AM
... does a random number generator not suffice? :P

@YiJiangsProble_ If we exclude mod closure...we did pretty well there. Not sure about record-breaking, though. :P

I did look it up with a query once

@YiJiangsProble_ Where's the romance in that? On the other hand, I wonder if he'd accept a Wheel of Blame...

Oh hey, mind adding me to the Wheel of Blame? I love taking the blame.

11:31 AM
Whoops, there's a bug in Data Explorer. >_> <_< makes a note

@TimStone the display of the time differences as time stamps?

Nah, I believe that's query writer error.
The bug is actually much more egregious, I'm surprised no one has reported it yet. Try switching sites on that query. :P

Oh yeah

I'll fix that after I take care of sci-fi's digest this morning.

11:44 AM
Nice

Hi, is there a kind soul here with enough rep to undelete a question I accidentally deleted? :D

that reminds me of something that just came up in my stackoverflow twitter search column ;)
Oh ffs. I accidentally deleted a #StackOverflow question. So I dig it out of googles cache and try to re-ask, but #so says its a duplicate.

LOL, yeah, chap looks familiar. ;)

where's the question?

isn't it just one of those xbox avatars? (doh too slow)

@DavidGouge undeleted now

@awoodland Fantastic, thank you very much. :D

It's kind of fascinating looking through the Firefox crash report aggregater: crash-stats.mozilla.com/topcrasher/byversion/Firefox/9.0.1/7/…
I wonder if I can find where my crash reports go, since Firefox has been crashing a lot more with version 9, and the number of Linux reports are very small

Wait, the most significant issue is that they can't produce reliable dumps? :P

Yup :P
Well, not really - those dumps could be corrupted for many different reasons

I was expecting to see buggy GL drivers via webgl higher in that list

@YiJiangsProble_ I blame society

The numbers are surprisingly small, considering how many users there are

12:07 PM
I wonder how many people avoid opting in to reporting that information.

wow that is a lot of NAA flags against that 1 user. Looks like someone burned through all 50 flags on all of their answers

Q: Is serially flagging posts by a single user ok?

joranI was perusing the flag queue on SO in /Review and noticed that this user has had (at the time of writing) more than 25 answers flagged as "Not An Answer". Not surprisingly, many are attracting additional flags and down votes. Here's one example. I actually agree that nearly all of these answe...

Q: Please stop the massive deletion on a Stack Overflow user's answers

mKorbelPlease would it be possible to stop the massive delete of answers by @Dee on Stack Overflow? Even if part of them are low quality, it looks like there is another reason behind this. I've marked these posts by using the "invalid flag" option in the flag queue, there are currently dozens flagged a...

Q: Odd Flagging Behavior

Adam RackisLast night (5:30am GMT / 12:30am EST) I went into the 10K flags queue and saw about 40 "Not an Answer" flags. A clear majority of them were flags on answers from this user, and virtually all of the answers were old. Clearly an ambitious young flagger went through this user's answers and dropped...

3:45 PM
hello
every one
I have one Question
@awoodland : is there any way I can hide certain informain in my profile from other users??

@anonymous just don't put it up there

@anonymous Well now.. what information were you looking to hide? ;)

@MarvinPinto : my real name, email address and birthday

I'm pretty sure email address and (actual) birthday isn't displayed (only age)

I don't see any of that on your profile on main

3:49 PM
but as for real name, I'd go with @woodland's suggestion and not put it up there

@MarvinPinto : so that anyone from my office could not see me.. @awoodland : I deleted those three right now

just "India" as location and the "about me box"

just a sec guys
i update those fields

you can't have "selective" profile information I don't think

@awoodland : i updated all
@awoodland : can you please have look and inform how much you can ssee?

3:50 PM
you're the ghost of steve jobs and you're 21?
(+ what you wrote in the about box)

yes
@awoodland: lol i am not ghost
@awoodland: i just changed my original pic today
@awoodland: i dnt want any one in my company to know that i am on SO

Here's what I can see: i.imgur.com/u6CCN.png

@MarvinPinto @awoodland : Ok..Guys thanks a lot for your time
@awoodland @MarvinPinto : real name and email address not visible..Thats good for me.. Have a nice day.. Once again thanks

4:44 PM
@anonymous Out of sheer curiosity, why don't you want anyone from your company to know you use SO (arguably one of the best developer resources of all time)?

Perhaps their employer has a policy about not goofing off on SO all day at work... looks around nervously
=)

@jadarnel27 - Trolling indeed. Ssh.. don't tell.

@Moshe Haha, I was wondering when you were going to see that =)
I implied that you are a reputation harlot!

5:01 PM
@jadarnel27 Watch thy foul mouth! :P
@Zypher - Hi!

6:02 PM
Hey, is there anyone here? I'd like to ask for your opinion on something.

What's up leet-speak guy?
=)

Hahaha, I love that I'm known for that now :P
Well, yesterday on SO I was viewing a post revision which only contained a really tiny gramaticall correction (like 1 char).
I decided for myself that it was bad practice, and tried to set a good example by doing a rollback.

Did you introduce some leet-speak expressions?

lol, no :P
Anyway, as you can see, the editor rerollbacked and left a definition.

I'm for such edits.

6:09 PM
@Emil Yeah. Some people will tend to make those minor grammatical corrections if they are really annoyed by said grammatical problems.

So it is bad practice to do a rollback in these one-char-cases?

I don't really understand the problem with minor edits.
Might be just me.

I know tiny edits are discouraged, but roll backs just (probably) end up adding to the noise.

It's just annoying, because it doesn't make a difference. Only thing it does is to put the editors name on the front of the question

@Emil It does make a difference!

6:11 PM
And it fixes the grammatical mistake, which makes a difference to some people
(like that Unicorn guy apparently =P)

Like to me. :)
Hey, I'm a unicorn whisperer not just a random unicorn guy! :P

The edit might bug you @Emil, but I bet the grammar problem is just screeeeeeeaming at the guy that made the edit =)

Well, to be honest, I couldn't even see the error in the first place, so I think it was pretty unnecessary. But it seems I'm undernumbered :P

@TheUnicornWhisperer Apologies for shirking your official title =)

:D
No worries still <3 you.

6:13 PM
What rep-level do you have to be on to see who downvoted stuff?
Or is it mods-only?

@Emil To see who downvoted, or just to see the up/down split?

wonders if you can sell unicorn <3's on the black market...

@Emil No one can see that.

@Emil No one can see who did the downvote. At 1k rep (on SO) you can see how many downvotes.

On every SE site. :)

6:15 PM
Hm, okay. Are you sure mods can't, though?

Positive =)

Okay :) That's probably good.

Gotta go, lunch time!

@jadarnel27 According to google, it doesn't look like it: google.com/…

Why is Emil leet speak guy?

Q: I can plz haz 1337speek-alt lang for SO?

EmilYesh, te title say it all, I can haz 1337speek-lang? For those of you who who don't speek 1337 (lulz, n00bz), sites like Facebook have an alternative translation for their sites called leet speak. It simply involves changing every sensible sentence into abbrevations, numbers and memes (see http:...

I lost 76 reputation from that.. :(
It even got closed for being stupid, but got reopened again (happyface)

6:30 PM
Oh god. tries to control himself - I ... uh ...

Please stop downvoting it, the idea isn't that bad actually! :(
OMG - one upvote! :D

I think it's entertaining, personally, but I wouldn't want it anywhere near "normal" SO users.

My eyes would start bleeding instantly I guess.

@cdeszaq That's true, but meta isn't anywhere near the normal SO-users either! :D
I'd think a unicorn could read 1337?

Check out the link posted in the comments to a leetifier...it's rather brillant [sic] actually

6:34 PM
I know! I had no idea that it existed, but it's actually really great§

I'd enjoy Klingon though.

I haven't seen this character in a while: §

Yeah, being able to translate the text through google translate (etc.) on demand would work, if only they had a leet translater

If only...
I love the fact that facebook does, though. They've got pirate-english as well!

Question... would changing either a SE site name or scope be something I should post on meta.stackexhange.com, or the meta site for the specific stack exchange site? I tried posting on the meta of the specific SE site, however I got the impression that this sort of question is something for the main SE team, not for the mods on the specific SE site. Someone suggested I post it on the main meta site, so I did but it got closed almost immediately.

I think your site needs to come to sort of consensus, so at the per-site meta likely makes the most sense. The Community Team monitors all of the per-site metas and can escalate issues when and if they think there's a need.

This question has come up at least 3 times on our meta site, always with positive votes. My current question has 12 up votes and 7 down votes. I also constantly am seeing our meta site spammed with questions about why some question or another was closed or off-topic
@TimStone Oh well, guess I'll leave it to our moderators to figure out. Thank you for your response.

Look at me, all causing trouble and everything! meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/120794/…

(Sorry, posting Sci-Fi's digest, one sec)
also bat-signals @Jin

7:28 PM
@AndrewBarber You're cool! (and right)

@Emil I appreciate it. hehe
Something else to note: This answer should make it clear that the removal of the display of Flag Weight certainly has not affected my flagging activity!
errr... THAT answer, I mean. heh

Jin
@TimStone you rang?

On Sci-Fi (or at least it's meta):

Jin
@TimStone can you start a bug report meta post on meta.scifi about it?

Sure

Jin
7:33 PM
i'm having ben helping me with css fixes this week, so i'll point him to that

OK :)

Jin
@TimStone thanks! (p.s. i'll never do a dark theme again, not even for meta, ever, such a PITA)

And .wmd-preview img and .post-text img have a margin-bottom: 1em too, which happened before on another site...can I put them in one report, or should it be two?
Hahah, but it's awesome! I particularly love sci-fi's theme on chat :D

Jin
@TimStone should they not have margin-bottom: 1em?

Causes weirdness when they're inline

A: 2012 Moderator Election - Town Hall Chat Digest

Tim Stone TangoOversway asked: Now simple questions that get simple answers get lots of reaction (reaction = upvotes, answers, comments, views, and maybe discussion on chat). This is leading to more and more questions that are answered quickly, which implies answers are easily found. What can be done to...

Admittedly this is a special case where I'm doing this, but I think it came up before...
It's not this way elsewhere, which is why I mention it

7:35 PM
@TimStone I saw funny post on their meta where people want Jin to put lasers into the design (and they frequently ping Jin from that post) =)

Oh, no, that's Gaming ;)

Jin
@jadarnel27 yes the gaming site... that's like a running meme now

Haha, oh yeah! Gaming. I'm sure that's not getting old @Jin

It's always funny to newly-discover a meme. Maybe not as funny to those who are already tired of it, and rolls their eyes as I laugh at it, though. :p

Nobody knows how to properly phrase magic card text. >_>

As a former rule-obsessed-player, reading all of those improperly-phrased cards makes me uncomfortable.

Also hahah @ your Jeff-sighting edit earlier ;) (Yes, I do see everything o_o)

@Cleanupcareerdevelopment i'm scared now.... have you seen the MTG card I made to promote our boardgames site?

Anonymous
8:03 PM
@Jin I think I looked at them, but I don't remember. Where are they? Though I'm now second-doubting the extent of my criticism - since my knowledge is many years out of date. >_>

8:30 PM
@Cleanupcareerdevelopment Not only is the phrasing a bit off (from current "standards"), but they introduced a bunch of new sub-types and didn't respect MaRo's wishes with how the color pie is supposed to work!!!!111one

Huh, that's interesting
My chat window doesn't seem to be updating if I don't look at it for a while

Anonymous
@cdeszaq MaRo2012 doesn't respect MaRo2004's wishes about how the colour pie is supposed to work. >_>

Anonymous
It's so much less stressful to play online, where the text on your cards is always current. ;P

@Cleanupcareerdevelopment Too true

@jin how's the Judaism design?

8:43 PM
@Cleanupcareerdevelopment But not having real cards, and still paying for them, is just something I can't stomach. If there was a way to move between on-line and physical cards (even just from digital to paper), I would totally play on-line though.

@Chris Duh, that's because I had clicked highlights.

9:01 PM
Haha, SkonJeet. Spoonerisms!
