@Moshe ipad and steam ... lots of things wrong with that. it's not designed for intensive graphics. it doesn't have an acceptable interface for giving commands, it's designed to burn a through a lot of calculations so it uses a lot of juice, it's designed for heavy networking (torrents) so having a lot of non-network-peer clients sucking data off the rest of the network would be unfair ... lots of things
@RebeccaChernoff that was the first time? :S ... that does suck I suppose. Glad that got to occur! So what did you bring us?
accepts gold bullion, excess buffet food (still edible!) ... cash ...

12:45 AM
lol

Nothing like an ineffective bribe to make one feel better about onesself
so I'm thinking tonight I want to go home early, heat leftovers, take some tylenol pm and crash out. then get up nice and early at like 5 am and come in and write some documentation before my coworkers get here. Cos I'm so not getting it done tonight ...

I left you some casino chips...you can pick them up in Vegas at the cashier...

Nice! I'll be sure and ... heyyyy........

Hello

2:28 AM
@Zypher Around?

12 hours later…
2:10 PM
12 hours??? what the?

We were afraid speaking might break chat and get us in trouble

the servers probably just got bored and started to mess with me just for fun

2:37 PM
@balpha since looking for a new place and moving took so much of my time, I'm far behind in work and that means much less chat time :-( I promise I'll return soon to keep this room busy and annoy you by reverse-engineering more chat stuff!

HI Guys, It's very sad to see when this room is not in active for 24x7

3:28 PM
@balpha It's because I'm on vacation, no one has any reason to be here.

lol

2 hours later…
5:51 PM
@badpssockpuppet Wait, does this imply that we were in Finland at the same time?

@TimStone No wonder they were saying "oy."

@PopularDemand @RebeccaChernoff was stowing away in one of our suitcases?

@TimStone Both of your suitcases!

Ah, no wonder they charged me 20 LVL to check that bag.

6:21 PM
@TimStone I did ask if somebody else was in Helsinki last weekend. I did so on Twitter however.

7:17 PM
@badpssockpuppet Ah, that explains why I didn't get the memo. :P I wasn't in Helsinki either, but in Tampere (which is about 170 km north anyway)
@MarcGravell What's the criteria for y in "There are other rooms, with x users currently talking in y rooms"? It seems it either includes rooms I can't see, or rooms that haven't had activity in 2+ days (I realized I hadn't filled my "trivial complaining" quota in a while).

7:38 PM
@TimStone THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE(s)!!!

:O!

waves hands there is no teacher's lounge

@RebeccaChernoff But where is the coffee kept then!?

there is no coffee

That's...just horrible.
What about the soda? PLEASE tell me there's at least soda?

8:10 PM
I need a new office chair. I left my old crappy one behind when I moved and now I am using a non-office dining room chair which is very uncomfortable. Any retrogradations for affordable yet comfortable coding thrones?

8:22 PM
@TheMountainException I suggest looking for used ergonomic chairs. I bought a used Bodybuilt J757 for $225 and love it. It's a bit creeky and I probably could have benefited from one with a gooseneck back attachement. Otherwise, it was a great buy.

@GeorgeMarian that's funny I was thinking of looking at used chairs, because I did tr a chair at OfficeMax that was great but it was like $800, LOL

lol
I can't speak for that chair, but most of the $200 chairs from the typical retailers are so not worth it. I bought one from Office Depot (I believe) on sale for $160. Even at that price it wasn't worth it. After about 1 year the cushion was worthless and it actually aggravated my issues.

@GeorgeMarian What does the gooseneck back attachment do for you, out of curiosity? (I'm not skilled in the way of chairs :P)

@TimStone It means that the back can come in closer. I'm about 5'6", so the typical problem I have with "standard" chairs is that the seat is too large for me. This chair's seat is right size for me, but at times I wish the back was in closer.

Ah ha, makes sense.

8:30 PM
@GeorgeMarian yeah the chair I had before was like $250 and a year later it was going to shit. When I moved out it was total crap
@TimStone LOL@I'm not skilled in the way of chairs

@TheMountainException Yup, that's a typical problem. I don't know how old this chair is, but judging by some of the scratches it's been around for while. I do have issues even with this chair at times, but I take that as a sign that I need to get up and move around a bit.
When I bought it, I could hardly sit in the crappy chair I was using and at times I had to actually lay down. That went away soon as I started using the good chair.
Anyone have experience with Fatcow hosting?

@GeorgeMarian not I, sorry

Not I. And now, off to sleep. Today's interesting fact: Beaver is pretty tasty.
Hmm, and in anticipation of @GeorgeMarian's comment, I mean the animal with the teeth, that chews wood and such :P

@TimStone Now the out of context star will come back to haunt you :-P

Hahah ;)

8:35 PM
I think there was an early Programmers SE post about office chairs.

@TimStone LOL

G'night ;)

Oh, and good night @TimStone

Good night

@PopularDemand Yah, I posted the same advice in such a link.

8:38 PM
@GeorgeMarian All I saw from you was a link to a specific model...?

@PopularDemand Oh, well maybe that was in another post. :)

I don't get it -- how can someone argue for SSIS to VB based Excel and back being a better choice than solving the problem via TSQL?
-1
A: Adding columns dynamically to a View or return from Stored Procedure

BethI would do it with Access or Excel instead of T-SQL.

Clearly I should just stop commenting on this answer or my head might explode.

@Hogan "how to make human head expolde programmaticaly ? "

@MichaelMrozek Too localized.

8:50 PM

Hello

Hello

Who unpinned Adam's number?

There is a pinning process -- or is it auto-magical?

@TylerChacha I don't know how long it's been, but pins auto-expire after 14 days.

9:05 PM
@PopularDemand O... I didn't know that...
That's a first..

I wish I knew that
I thought a mod came and cleared it

Fourteen days.

@PopularDemand I'm pretty sure it was implemented specifically because of the pins in this room

@MichaelMrozek That would not surprise me at all.

@PopularDemand I really love how you randomly come out of the woodworks to talk...

your like an urban legend!
