@Moshe ipad and steam ... lots of things wrong with that. it's not designed for intensive graphics. it doesn't have an acceptable interface for giving commands, it's designed to burn a through a lot of calculations so it uses a lot of juice, it's designed for heavy networking (torrents) so having a lot of non-network-peer clients sucking data off the rest of the network would be unfair ... lots of things
@RebeccaChernoff that was the first time? :S ... that does suck I suppose. Glad that got to occur! So what did you bring us?
Nothing like an ineffective bribe to make one feel better about onesself
so I'm thinking tonight I want to go home early, heat leftovers, take some tylenol pm and crash out. then get up nice and early at like 5 am and come in and write some documentation before my coworkers get here. Cos I'm so not getting it done tonight ...
@balpha since looking for a new place and moving took so much of my time, I'm far behind in work and that means much less chat time :-( I promise I'll return soon to keep this room busy and annoy you by reverse-engineering more chat stuff!
@badpssockpuppet Ah, that explains why I didn't get the memo. :P I wasn't in Helsinki either, but in Tampere (which is about 170 km north anyway)
@MarcGravell What's the criteria for y in "There are other rooms, with x users currently talking in y rooms"? It seems it either includes rooms I can't see, or rooms that haven't had activity in 2+ days (I realized I hadn't filled my "trivial complaining" quota in a while).
I need a new office chair. I left my old crappy one behind when I moved and now I am using a non-office dining room chair which is very uncomfortable. Any retrogradations for affordable yet comfortable coding thrones?
@TheMountainException I suggest looking for used ergonomic chairs. I bought a used Bodybuilt J757 for $225 and love it. It's a bit creeky and I probably could have benefited from one with a gooseneck back attachement. Otherwise, it was a great buy.
I can't speak for that chair, but most of the $200 chairs from the typical retailers are so not worth it. I bought one from Office Depot (I believe) on sale for $160. Even at that price it wasn't worth it. After about 1 year the cushion was worthless and it actually aggravated my issues.
@TimStone It means that the back can come in closer. I'm about 5'6", so the typical problem I have with "standard" chairs is that the seat is too large for me. This chair's seat is right size for me, but at times I wish the back was in closer.
@TheMountainException Yup, that's a typical problem. I don't know how old this chair is, but judging by some of the scratches it's been around for while. I do have issues even with this chair at times, but I take that as a sign that I need to get up and move around a bit.
When I bought it, I could hardly sit in the crappy chair I was using and at times I had to actually lay down. That went away soon as I started using the good chair.
