> This font is ‘DejaVu Sans’, a thoroughly dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike similar to RISC OS's dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike desktop font Homerton. Although, depending on what packages you install, you might get ‘Vera Sans’ instead, which is a thoroughly dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike that's largely identical to DejaVu because that font was adapted from it.
> Or you might get ‘Liberation Sans’ (a free but thoroughly dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike developed from ‘Ascender Sans’, a commercial and thoroughly dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike), or possibly ‘Nimbus Sans’, which is—guess what—a thoroughly dull Helvetica-compatible lookalike. If you've copied fonts from Windows, you could even get ‘Arial’, that thoroughly dull and Helvetica-compatible look-alike-but-worse.

@badp Hahaha, gogo bobince! I still remember his "the <center> cannot hold" post.

So that's all I can think at this point @RebeccaChernoff. Aside from working faster, any suggestions for me? :-)

@ChrisJesterYoung he posts on average twice a year, but it's gold

This week was a very crazy work week for me...

@badp Totally.

12:02 AM
> (That's an entirely rhetorical question. You can't actually answer, as I've never got around to adding any kind of comment system to this site. Maybe one day I will, and then you can tell me how wrong I am. Given the rate at which I update this site, that'll probably be in ten years' time, when we'll all be using holographic 3D fonts with time-domain anti-aliasing. In space.)

Wow, it's been, what, 14 years? the local television channel is still showing Titanic on movie nights
@badp In Space!!!
Hmmm, I didn't add the election monitor to stackapps because I didn't want to duplicate the content from MSO, but now with the new apps listing, should I?

@YiJiang go ahead, make your day
> Oh, and to add insult to injury, they've just skinned the UI, to make it all dark. Because ‘professional’ media apps have to be dark, right? It makes them go faster, due to ambient... reflection... tachonometry... sciencey... science.

meta.stackoverflow.com/posts/79039/revisions - did I mention I was terrible at names?

@DanGrossman: around?

Ahem, Rebbeca...

12:13 AM
@ircmaxell Whats up?

Reading about capped collections
seems quite interesting
Can I do GridFS ontop of that?

I don't think so, could be wrong though

That would be ideal, since it would be then trivial to implement
hrm, I will need to think about this (since using mongo will be difficult since the output is piped to STDOut as a pretty high rate. So I'd need to pipe it to some kind of tool that splits it apart and inserts it into Mongo

@RebeccaChernoff I don't get it, the /users/{id}/associated route returns the association id, for what?
The association id will always be the same

@YiJiang Assuming I read your question correctly, you use the association ID to grab at a user's other linked sites. You can use it for, say, Rebecca's StackFlair.

12:24 AM
@ChrisJesterYoung No, I mean, you're already feeding the association id into that route, so why would the route return the association id, which is the same for every site the user participates on
For example,
  {
   "user_id":103,
   "site_name":"User Interface",
   "user_creation_date":1281406468,
   "association_id":"56541460-95df-4570-8911-e180125974ce"
  },
  {
   "user_id":117,
   "site_name":"Gaming",
   "user_creation_date":1278532753,
   "association_id":"56541460-95df-4570-8911-e180125974ce"
  },
  {
   "user_id":181,
   "site_name":"Science Fiction",
   "user_creation_date":1295387297,
   "association_id":"56541460-95df-4570-8911-e180125974ce"
  },
  {
   "user_id":243,
   "site_name":"Web Applications",

These are not questions I can answer @YiJiang.

@RebeccaChernoff To stackapps then!

@YiJiang Ah.

@YiJiang Because it can!

12:30 AM
OK @RebeccaChernoff I am about to take off, anything else you need from me on the digests (or anything else) tonight?

I need confirmation - I can't find the comment delete button any more, this is very weird

It's still in the DOM, but it's no longer visible for some reason
Chrome shows the button, but not Firefox. Weird

My screenshot is in Firefox, did you refresh and everything?

@TimStone Multiple times
I'll try restarting it
I just noticed something else - Pekka's comment there renders without that space behind it on Chrome
Seems like Chrome doesn't render empty elements at all, while Firefox will still respect the padding of empty elements

Joel SpolskyThe original question was "whether employees are allowed to have side projects." Q: Move the remove tag "X" icon inside the tag in interesting/ignored tags

KipCurrently, the list of tags in "ignored tags" and "interesting tags" has a little "remove tag" icon to the right of each tag. However, since this icon is not inside the div containing the tag, it can sometimes get wrapped onto the next line, which causes confusion as to which tag will actually be...

A mod should add a tag to this

Q: What is a good OS to mess around with Xen Dom0?

EarlzHello, I'd like to experiment some with Xen. My problem is I do not know which OS to try to install it with. I use OpenBSD, but it can not run as Dom0 or DomU at this point. I use Arch Linux on my website's VPS, so I know it and like it. The support for Xen just doesn't seem to be there though....

odd, my question was moved from superuser to serverfault
It had nothing specific to servers though (unless Xen is considered server-only software). And when I tried to see who closed it, it apparently has been deleted off of superuser

@YiJiang But it's not completed?

@TimStone what?
@TimStone oh sorry, wrong person lol
superuser.com/questions/153492/… wow, I got the Popular Question badge on a question with no upvotes :/

@TimStone Given that the little x doesn't exist anymore, the feature request is irrelevant, isn't it?

3:18 AM
...It does exist?

@YiJiang Agree. It would more rightfully be a comment.

(No userstyles there, as you can see the adobe icon)

I assume that this is somehow related to the hatred the comment delete button has for you. :P

Okay, this is totally weird

I'm not sure why, but I feel an urge to correct that to 'drastically differently'

4:39 AM
@YiJiang That's because you'd be right.
@YiJiang Remember, the proper phrase is "think differently", not "think different". Apple is just...funny in the head.

@ChrisJesterYoung Is it? I'm not entirely sure here

2 hours later…
6:18 AM
@ChrisJesterYoung Actually, different is correct. It's like "Think big". It's telling you not to think differently, but to think of different things (a semantic difference).

Hello,
                                                                                                                            Hello, Is it possible to write an email to a SO's user ?

@eyquem Not unless they make it publicly available

Thank you. I would like to inform someone I made a new answer, several days afterthe discussion on a problem.
by the way: made an answer, or , did an answer ? Please

@eyquem They would've been informed if they wanted to (checked that 'inform me of new answer through email box), else I'd say let it pass
@eyquem Neither, I'd say 'added a new answer' would be better

3:17 PM
Someone explained to me: "Martin v. Löwis won't see you comment unless you post it under his answer as a comment with "@Martin v. Löwis:" before it; it's possible another format might work, but I'm 100% sure this format works; meaning the next time he is on the stackoverflow site, he'll see your comment." What does it mean: "the next time he is on the stackoverflow site, he'll see your comment." ?
Thank you for the answer you add to my question :)

@eyquem He'll see your comment the next time he's on the site, he'll see a new notification on the Stack Exchange button on the top left corner of all SE sites informing of the new comment

SE ? what is it ?

@eyquem Stack Exchange

i ru to hide....
i run to hide....

@eyquem You what?

3:24 PM
I didn't think that SE could evidently mean Stack Exchange: shame on me. So I want to hide me, and I run to do so rapidly... It 's a french turn of phrase

« button on the top left corner of all SE sites informing of the new comment». I never see that.
Ther's an enveloppe on the left of my user's name. Passing the pointer on it shows: "you have no new replies". I conclude it never changes when one have a comment preceded by @user , because it is never different than "you have no new replies".

Michael MrozekIt does make sense for the reason Steven said -- to mark questions that are Linux-specific. Can anyone see a question here?

> please help out, have to display dataset in silverlight grid, what is the code..

@RebeccaChernoff All right - can any see a question that can be reasonably answered?

+1 Mrozek.

I think it makes sense once you understand it, but I don't know enough about WCF or Silverlight to be sure
He's got a "dataset", and he wants to show it on a "silverlight grid", but can't figure out how to convert to a format the latter expects

Well I'm using WCF (RIA Serivces) and Silverlight at the moment but I don't know where to begin answering it.
If he's got an IQueryable<> data set then it should "just work" assuming he's bound his grid correctly - but that's a big assumption. Hence my request for code.

9:22 PM
I feel good if I manage to edit a question faster than somebody can comment asking the OP to format the question properly. Bonus points if the commenter has 2k+ rep

Did I grossly misunderstand this question? Why was the API suggested before Recent Activity?

@RebeccaChernoff That's exactly what I thought he meant when I commented with "it already sorts by date"

No, he wants it in date order but he's looking at the user page I thought?
> The Reputation tab on the user page is great, except it orders it in amounts of reputation, is there a way to order it in date order?
Iunno, whatever haha.

That is a list of reputation-altering events, but it's sorted by reputation, not by date
He wants it by date, I hoped for the same thing, I don't think it exists
^ Unrelated, my rep graph is awesome.

Either your reputation audit or the recent activity I point to in my answer.

9:31 PM
"Oh, I feel like having 10k tools". Zip zip, a week later I go straight to 10k.
@RebeccaChernoff The audit is virtually unreadable, no links/text just database identifiers and the recent activity list isn't the same (nothing that shows an answer being accepted, for example)

@DanGrossman It took me 9 months of fairly steady progress

Use the reputation audit user script @YiJiang wrote. However, Recent Activity does show when an answer is accepted.

I don't think that script converts IDs to titles though

Of all the games to get mad at, Stepmania is at about the bottom of the list I think

It's obvious from the state of his walls that it's not the first time he's used the keyboard this way.
