cos for some reason everyone is coming into town and so it's now my job to make sure they have lots of sugary beverages that will only get half-drank, and they are highly obnoxious but think I'm the one with a problem if only because I ask them to, ya know, use English and speak clearly when they talk to me, instead of half-sentences and imaginary conversations

I realize I'm rude and all for asking those things ...
You should totally take credit for the popularity though :P
@StefanKottwitz Yeah, it's listed on SO, but it hasn't been awarded, so it's unclear whether or not it will be (people definitely qualify, but MSO is a special case meta, so it's possible the badge is meant to foster community-making decisions on new sites)
I love when I learn interesting methods of doing things while trying to fix problems with Triton or another app
Like one of my testers complained that the posts section of Triton overlapped with the menu on small screens
I generally just have a width: 75% on the posts
However, because the menu is a fixed width, I figured out I could get rid of the width property, and simply make sure that there is a margin-right: 200px, and suddenly, even on really small windows it doesn't overlap anymore
@RebeccaChernoff Thanks, but to be fair it wasn't too hard to follow the code once I saw what was happening in the DOM, so. :) Plus, kudos to the OP for posting the question at all, I had something similar happen when I posted the sidebar issue earlier that morning and forgot that it happened, heheh. ;)
From my university, since I still have mail there: "Back by popular demand (Popular Demand?)!! We didn't count on such a huge turnout last week (58 students tested) so we're hosting more free STD and HIV testing at SHAC (Student Health and Counseling) this week!!" ...Heh.
var title = document.getElementsByTagName('h1')[0];
title = title.innerText || title.textContent;
document.title = title + document.title.substring(document.title.lastIndexOf('-') - 1);
Oh, and by the way @TimStone, what do you think of kittenBot now?
The noise will die down after a while when everybody's satisfied playing with the Kitten, and when nobody has anything to say, we can always get the Kitten to squeeze out some pseudo-wisdom to entertain us
Bingbot found one of my domains which has never been linked to, then Googlebot found it on Bing somehow, now Google's indexed the domain and people are showing up at a half built app
@RebeccaChernoff hmm i honestly don't know. we should a standard page for all of them. but i can see why the graduated sites probably should use their own stylized offline page
@RebeccaChernoff If you wouldn't mind. :) I realized that I need to setup two different local copies I think, for this purpose. My dev one that I use for my repository, and then the stable one that links to yours...I haven't gotten around to that yet, but I have gotten around to making food, heheh. ;)
Wanted to make sure I didn't break anything and such. :p
Heh, I was surprised to see it was somehow already past midnight. I've made a little progress, but not three hours worth since the last time I checked the clock.
> Popcorn shrimp also refers to bite-sized pieces of fried shrimp which may be eaten in a manner similar to popcorn. They were originally made by Red Lobster.
Hi,
I'm working at my first programming job. My boss is a very smart software engineer, and I feel
like I have very little to offer compared to him. Problem is, he is always busy, and needs someone to help him out. I feel like I'm not good enough, but I still want to succeed. I want to be a gre...
All to often I hit one of the hot keys that surounds the moment keys. This a big problem in World of Warcraft when flying high on mount and hitting any action key that causes the toon to unmount.
So, what is a good things to use to help identify keys with out looking down at the keys? I want to...
If I could log in I'd tell him that his keyboard already has something to help him find the keys without looking... the raised bumps on f and j on EVERY KEYBOARD :x
"You know the biggest lesson I learned from what you did? We are a lot alike, you and I. You tested me, I tested you. You killed me, I... oh no, wait, I guess I haven't killed you yet. Well, food for thought." -- Portal 2, 2011.
@radp I don't think that revision you made was correct - the /q links redirect to the full /questions link, so there's no reason to use the /q version really
But what I don't get is the meaning of Quorum (when I look at wikipedia - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorum - it does not make sense to me in the context of SO)
> A quorum is the minimum number of members of a deliberative assembly (a body that uses parliamentary procedure, such as a legislature) necessary to conduct the business of that group.
@JeroenPluimers Can't use abbreviated usernames, both here and in the comment system - it's not a convention - the user actually get's notified when you mention his/her name with a @ in front of it
I get the GRUB "select a version to install" screen but when I continue, I get a black screen. I am afraid the ISO may be corrupt because Ubuntu 9.04 works
