Jeff AtwoodOK, we now subsort by the tab you're on. Funny, it's been this way for almost 1 1/2 years and nobody noticed, I guess.

I knew he'd fixed tags so I thought it was Users and found waffles' post but turns out both are broken

Q: What is the point of voting up a question?

I totally get how up voting good answers makes the whole site work. But what is the point of up voting a question? Relatedly, what for criteria are we meant to vote a question up? Is a well written question more deserving of up votes than a hard to answer question?

Voting also helps the process that figures out whether a user is too lame to continue.

@rchern I go to the Tags page, pick the Name tab, then type something common in. It used to sort those tags by popularity, now it sorts alphabetically by name.

@PopularDemand - The events were all in large cities in the US and Europe (UK and Holland, iirc), so by large western standards, though not as cheap as cinema tickets, still affordable. (Cinema tickets here are about £7, the conference was £89)
 
Yeah, but it's like Rolls Royce vs. Aston Martin; sure, one must be more expensive, but both are well out of my reach.
 
@Oded Still a third of what I pay for local events here. And we only have about 3 major one's in a year, with Tech-Ed being the biggest. Granted travelling to one outside of the country will cost 3 times what they charge here.

So what do you do when a customer is forcing you to release version 2.1 of your software when it's not even ready to be called an alpha? Only one of the many new features has been built yet... do I call it v2.1 pre-alpha? Or v2.1 alpha 1? Maybe 2.1 early alpha? Is there a greek letter for "Please don't make me release this software yet?"

This is a great community -- Everyone here helps purely out of the goodness of their heart and the enjoyment of being experts in their field. But nobody has an obligation to provide you with urgent support... That being said, I often find this to be the fastest means to get questions answered. Questions, not training :-)
And @Moshe to clarify what I said which @MichaelMrozek (rightfully) objected to, post the details on SO. Come to chat to see if there's any experts who are available. Be polite about it. And if there are, start a room (or use The Roach Motel) to hash out details
But real questions should be posted as such
