5:28 PM
..it seems people on ServerFault don't read the blog..

3 hours later…
8:40 PM
A few of us do.

hello
I <3 serverfault!
3
it is still my favorite "child"

Cool.

@Jeff: need to record that for RockHard in ~13years

Perhaps a silly question, but is it possible to access chat.* from an irc client?

@Zoredache: see history of "Chat Feedback" room: chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/14/chat-feedback
Summary: no (at least not yet)

8:45 PM
ah I need to email all the moderators and let them know about this chatroom

@Richard, ok.

lol @ "3 hours later..."

ok I emailed the SF moderators to let them know.
We will likely have a meta.serverfault.com in the next few weeks btw

meta for serverfault? really?
superuser also?

yes

8:57 PM
how will the reputation work there?

Seems that lots and lots of meta sites would just dilute feedback/discussion
@Juan: And rep

same as in current SE 2.0 sites -- rep all tied to parent

will "meta" keep its independent rep?
(I mean "the" meta)

yes
no changes to meta.so

excellent

9:01 PM
it is "washington, D.C." -- the legislative capital

9:23 PM
status-not-my-capital

9:37 PM
well I mean in the abstract :)

10:04 PM
So meta.so will be for pan-site issues as well as SO issues and the others will be completely site-specific?

hi @dennis
yes that is the current theory
sorry about the cookie issues earlier. We had to switch to .stackoverflow.com style cookies (note leading period) for chat to have access to the domain's cookie for auth
so, some people still had the old cookie, which we honor..

hrm the layout is seriously messed up on my ipad...

@ Jeff: It's alright. Guinea pigs are we... ♫

10:19 PM
@zore yeah we're aware of that and working on a fix
mobile styling of this is a bit hard

no worries. I didn't expect it to actually work.

we will get it to work, though.
because we want to use it on our iDevices, as well :)

10:50 PM
@Zordache: So think this will be enough to replace #serverfault irc ?

@kyle, sure. But then I mostly hang out on the sf irc to watch for new questions
but for actual conversations this will be fine.
I do wish rooms could be dynamically created by going to a url like 'chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/rooms/room-name

@zore that is possible
@zore ask @marc or @balpha we need to document that in the /faq but it is already possible. I can't remember the exact URL syntax

Ok. It didn't seem like it would be particularly difficult to do.

11:13 PM
yeah it exists, I just can't figure it out ATM. Will update /faq for sure tonight
we value your feedbacks!

11:36 PM
I'm liking the ability to "go back in time" and read what happened before you got in here ... and i guess i need to change my gravitar now

I don't know that you need to, but you may want to.

odd @zypher doesn't show up on my list of "people here" in this room -- anyone else see that?

Ah, maybe he left and I was just talking to myself?

oh, obviously. duh. my bad

11:51 PM
how long will it still show people in the list if they haven't used the 'leave', but they close the tab? For example warner hasn't spoken in several hours, but is still in the list. Does that mean he is here, but idle, or gone and didn't know to click leave.
